| Title | Many Hands, Light Work: Leveraging a Content Management System to Empower the College Community
|
| Abstract | Many colleges and universities face the same or similar problem: not enough staff or money to handle the breadth, depth and volume of content requests for their Web site. In response to this situation, The City College of New York has looked toward Web content management technology to empower their entire faculty and staff to become a "collective Web development team."
Through the implementation of a Web content management system, CommonSpot, non-technical users can now easily publish information and content without needing to know HTML, FTP, graphics production, etc. In addition to the publication of content, the college has been able to create a cohesive, up-to-date, and branded Web site in an effort to attract prospective students and increase Web site usage.
