Boston, May 8, 2006 -- PaperThin, Inc., a leading Web publishing and content management software vendor today announced that several colleges and universities have recently selected CommonSpot to support their online marketing strategies.
Joining PaperThin’s growing list of higher education customers are Skidmore College (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.), IMD International (Lausanne, Switzerland), University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign Continuing Education (Champaign, Ill.), and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (Milwaukee, Wis.). These institutions all share a similar goal of delivering a high quality, information rich online experience to meet their recruiting, donation, alumni outreach, and overall marketing and communications objectives.
The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee intends to provide access to CommonSpot to over 28,000 students and approximately 3,500 faculty and staff. According to interim Chief Information Officer, Bruce Maas, “This will provide students with the ability to easily create and manage their own individualized Web portfolio. For faculty and staff, this will provide content owners with a tool to manage content that they have authored, without needing to understand HTML or a third party editing tool. For both groups, we expect that CommonSpot will allow for a significantly improved Web presence and identity."
Upon completion of its campus-wide rollout, more than 50 content contributors across 60 departments at Skidmore College will use CommonSpot to enhance the timeliness of information published to the Web. According to Andy Camp, Electronic Communications Manager, at Skidmore College, “We needed to employ a system that users could adapt to quickly. After months of evaluating products, we found Commonspot to be that solution. Our users will now face a learning curve one tenth that of the product that we were previously using. They will become content providers almost immediately, and with the Web being our first point of contact for prospective students, this is crucial.”
CommonSpot offers higher education institutions flexible, campus-wide workflow and collaboration features such as email review, collaborative authoring, and visual difference that facilitate the efficient review and approval of content. In addition, colleges and universities can strengthen their online marketing and branding efforts. CommonSpot’s versatile templates and support for Cascading Style Sheets allow IT to maintain tight control over design and navigation while content authors can easily assume responsibility for content creation and maintenance.
“The increased demand for dynamic content on college and university Web sites is causing educational institutions to seek out content management capabilities that will improve online publishing cycles and increase content relevancy,” said Bob Cellucci, senior vice president of sales and marketing at PaperThin, Inc. “The functionality available in CommonSpot, combined with its ease of use will drive rapid success in this area.”
