Cites Stability and Reliability as Key Reasons for Move

BOSTON, February 27, 2008 -- PaperThin, Inc., the leading ColdFusion-based Web content management vendor, today announced that Ping Identity has sunsetted its open source content management solution in favor of the CommonSpot™ Web content management system.

“Considering the size and support of our development team, an open source content management application is very limiting. CommonSpot solved two primary problems for our marketing team: it facilitated direct editing by marketing content creators, and it provided a deep and rich set of features that would have taken us years to develop in Ruby on Rails,” said Marty Halpin, director of operations at Ping Identity.  “Our previous solution did not provide the reliability or stability we required.  CommonSpot has also been an excellent choice from that perspective.”

“While right for some organizations, open source applications require a solid development and support infrastructure to keep pace with the constantly changing business landscape and evolving feature set requirements. It’s easy to underestimate the amount of work and time required to complete a project.  Additionally, total cost of ownership for an open source solution can often exceed that of an out-of-the-box content management system—defeating the purpose of moving to an open source CM solution in the first place,” said Bob Cellucci, senior vice president of PaperThin.  “We’ve seen many organizations that had opted to build a proprietary CMS now rethinking those decisions in favor of buying a well-developed and supported system.”

Ping Identity chose PaperThin partner RainCastle to implement the content management solution.  “The re-implementation of the Ping Identity website in CommonSpot provided an excellent opportunity for giving non-technical Ping Identity personnel all the tools they needed to easily control and maintain the site on a day-to-day basis” said John Canestraro, vice president of Raincastle Communciations.  “In addition, Ping Identity needed a solution that allowed them to grow and expand the web site and its capabilities.  CommonSpot provides that platform for growth.”

Recently released, CommonSpot version 5.0 empowers organizations of all sizes with a flexible, scalable and easy-to-use content management solution for greater productivity, faster time to market, and the ability to easily adapt the system to meet their complex needs.  CommonSpot gives organizations such as Ping Identity the ability to focus on their business—rather than on developing and supporting content management initiatives—helping them achieve better business results.
