The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) launched a redesigned university homepage and associated top-level pages utilizing CommonSpot. The goal of the redesign was to highlight the university’s focus on research as well as to give the site a fresh look and new navigation.
Using CommonSpot, a total of approximately 300 pages were redesigned in a span of about three weeks. UWM’s Web development team took advantage of CommonSpot’s metadata features to build dynamic navigation and a robust base template. Additionally, custom applications were created to support campus news and events, as well as an AJAX-based directory search.
Future plans for CommonSpot at UWM include the development of an online resume builder for students based on the product's taxonomy features.
The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is one of two public doctoral research universities in Wisconsin, offering more than 28,000 students a comprehensive liberal arts and professional education through 153 degree programs.
